The Study Abroad / Away Application Process Students interested in studying abroad / away should start as early as possible to consult with the Office of Global Education (OGE) and their faculty advisor(s) on programs that would be a good fit. Students are encouraged to review the list of approved programs through the Horizons system (no login required to browse programs) and utilize the study abroad / away provider websites to explore the programs in greater detail. Students should then contact the OGE with any questions and for advising about program offerings; we are available for in-person, zoom, or phone meetings. Study abroad / away is possible for the spring semester sophomore year, fall and spring semesters junior year, and fall semester of the senior year. With the exceptions of MILA courses and other Muhlenberg-led programs, study abroad / away any other semester is allowed with prior approval from the Office of Global Education. Applying to Study Abroad / Away To apply for approval to study abroad / away, students must complete an application through the Horizons system. Muhlenberg students will login with their Muhlenberg credentials to start an application. Students will first be asked to complete their profile. You will then search for the program you wish to apply to, press the apply button and select your desired term. Students will need to complete the pre-acceptance section of the application and submit it for review by the OGE. You do not need to complete the application in one sitting. Students interested in studying abroad / away for the fall semester of the next academic year must apply to be nominated for study abroad / away by the OGE by December 1. Students interested in studying abroad / away for the spring semester of the next academic year must apply to be nominated for study abroad / away by OGE by March 1. Please reach out to us by email at globaleducation@muhlenberg.edu or by phone at 484-664-3841 with any questions about the study abroad / away process.
